A1 Beginner

Can understand and use familiar everyday phrases and answer basic questions about personal details

A2 Elementary

Can have very short social exchanges and give information on familiar and routine matters

B1 Intermediate

Can briefly describe past events and future plans, give reasons for opinions, and use the language when traveling

B2 Upper Intermediate

Can communicate confidently in a variety of academic and professional environments

C1 Advanced

Can use the language flexibly and accurately for social, academic, and professional purposes

C2 Proficient

Can interact with ease and skills similar to a native speaker, differentiating finer shades of meaning

Korean - TOPIK

Levels 1 and 2 – Beginner Level

1 - basic commands of Korean for survival, such as greeting, purchasing, ordering, etc; expressing and understanding oneself in simple everyday conversation by making simple sentences from 800 basic words

2 - discussion of familiar topics employing a vocabulary of about 1,500∼2,000 words; distinguishing correctly between formal and informal situations

Levels 3 and 4 – Intermediate Level

3 - carrying out transactions with people in public spaces and maintaining social relationships; understanding the correct usage of words and speech; command of fundamental characteristics of Korean

4 - comprehension of news articles, general social issues and abstract topics with accuracy and fluency; comprehension of Korean social and cultural contents relying on essential idioms and understanding of representative aspects of Korean culture

Levels 5 and 6 – Advanced Level

5 - high fluency in using the Korean language in professional research or work; understanding and discussing less unfamiliar topics in politics, economics and other fields; usage of appropriate expressions, distinguishing formal and informal, written and spoken, by context

6 - absolutely fluent in the Korean language for professional research or work, capacity to understand and express oneself without problem, although without the full fluency of a native speaker

Spanish - DELE

A1 - able to communicate using the language in a basic way in situations having to do with immediate needs or everyday situations; an internationally recognized certificate that connects people from their first contact with Spanish and evaluates their level in Spanish from the beginning of their studies

A2 - can understand commonly used, everyday phrases and expressions related to areas of experience especially relevant to them (basic information about themselves and their families, shopping, places of interest, work, etc.

B1

  • Understand the gist of clear texts, in standard language, if they involve well-known topics related to work, studies, or leisure.
  • Deal with most situations that occur while travelling in areas where Spanish is spoken.
  • Produce simple and coherent texts about familiar topics, or topics of personal interest
  • Describe experiences, events, wishes, and hopes, as well as to be able to briefly express opinions or explain plans.

B2

  • Interact with native speakers with a sufficient degree of fluency and spontaneity to enable easy and natural communication between interlocutors.
  • Produce clear and detailed texts about diverse topics, as well as defend an opinion about general topics, expressing the pros and cons for each argument.
  • Understand the gist of complex texts about both concrete and abstract topics, including technical texts, provided they are within the candidate’s area of expertise.

C1

  1. Understand a wide variety of lengthy, and somewhat demanding texts, as well as to grasp implicit meaning in the same.
  2. Express themselves fluently and spontaneously without apparent effort to find the right words.
  3. Use the language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.
  4. Produce clear, well-structured and detailed texts about topics of some complexity, correctly using mechanisms of organization, articulation and cohesion in the text.

C2 - competence to communicate effectively in any situation, proving ability to spontaneously adapt to any context, with a high degree of precision; show subtle control of nuances which allow for fluent and natural expression in all interactions
