Hello, and welcome!

Hola! 안녕하세요! Salaam! Welcome to LostEnTranslation: I am Spencer Brengartner, an American who is dedicating their time to become a translator in Spanish, Korean, and Arabic. I am creating this blog to document the progress and adventures I go on while becoming a translator.

I have been interested in languages since I got into Chinese and Spanish language at a young age. My interest grew with the discovery of Japanese with anime and Korean with K-pop. I started taking Spanish in school, then had my first attempt of self-studying a language with Korean, and eventually my senior year of high school I was taking college Spanish and Intro to Chinese. College brought so many more opportunities for language and culture exchange. I started to self-study Korean again and tried Japanese, while taking college level Spanish courses. I was involved with organizations and clubs on campus that allowed me to make friends from all over the world and broaden my skill set for example being president of cultural and spiritual club that bought together students of different cultures and beliefs to discuss each others cultures and spirituality. I graduated from university in 2018 with a B.A. in History with a minor in International Studies. Then I graduated from grad school in 2019 with a MBA. Honestly, I really didn't know what I wanted to do besides knowing that I was passionate about languages and international relations. I was really just living aimlessly until I started self-studying Korean again in 2021 and have been pretty constant since then. I've started and stopped several other languages in addition to Korean, then, comes picking up Spanish again and starting Arabic and the rest is history. Next comes the idea of hmmm maybe I could come a translator and the more I thought about it the more I was like well I do really like the idea of becoming a translator. The more people I told, the more sure I became. I started making a plan, a road map to achieve my very ambitious goal but I am willing to put in the time and effort.

SO! WELCOME, I hope this can inspire you even just a little to go out and try to do something you've always dreamed to do and try it. You are worth it.
